Susan was born in Des Moines, Iowa. Her dad was in the army so shortly after she was born, they moved to Hawaii, Texas, Missouri and then back to Des Moines, Iowa, within five (5) years. She graduated in 2001 and then attended DMACC part-time in 2012 to pursue her paralegal degree.

Susan was recently married to her husband in 2016, and has a son born in 2002, a daughter born in 2007 and just recently had a baby girl in October of 2018. She also has three (3) dogs and one (1) cat. She enjoys camping with family and friends, card games with the kids and traveling.
